It's my birthday! As I enter my 38th year of life and my 10th year as a blogger-turned-coach-turned-author-turned self-empowered woman, I have a LOT on my mind. I've been thinking about how I want to continue showing up in the world. As a woman. As a business woman. As someone who has a lot of eyes on her, and a massive platform to express herself through and help women.
I'm going to admit something: I sometimes edit myself. I sometimes hold back on saying things I really want to say because I don't want to offend people. Or ruffle feathers. Know what's interesting? I NEVER did this in the beginning of my career. Because nobody was really paying attention. And if they weren’t paying attention, they weren’t judging. And if I wasn’t being judged I felt safe.
But as I've grown and become more of a public figure, I fell into the habit of biting my tongue. This isn't to say I haven't been real, but I've held back on expressing my thoughts at times because frankly, I just don't want to deal with people's reactions. I don't like negativity.
But I just can't go on muting myself because someone may have a problem with something I do or say. I can't risk MY truth because of someone else's response to it. In this episode, I'm digging into why we should all be unapologetically ourselves, why that doesn't mean we're being "bitches", and why we need to take some of the pressure off others who we admire.
